Queta R. Bauer, MSC, ABC
Queta—as she is known by her friends and colleagues—is a communications professional with over 20 years of international experience in public relations and a passion for community service. After noticing how many organizations failed to take into consideration the cultural background of their audiences, she founded Cultural Communications, LLC in the year 2000. Since then, she has helped many clients deliver their services to the communities who need them the most.
Queta has experience doing primary research and managing outreach campaigns in the general market and in underserved communities that are “hard-to-reach” due to various socio-economic challenges. Her projects usually include an educational component and information about delivery of services provided by municipalities, non-profit organizations and corporations with a corporate social responsibility policy.
Queta also has experience leading and training volunteers, and facilitating workshops for various organizations. She has organized and spoken at press conferences and at large national and international meetings. She has conducted workshops and presentations in international conferences in Mexico, Colombia, Iceland, South Africa, Canada and France.
Queta has led her team through successful campaigns that have received numerous awards including a Golden Trumpet Award from the International Association of Business Communicators, the highest award granted by this organization.
A native of Mexico City, Queta has a B.A. from DePaul University, and a Master of Science in Communication degree from Northwestern University. During her formative years she also studied at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, in Mexico City and is fluent in English, Spanish and French. In March, 2009, Queta earned accreditation as a business communicator by the International Association of Business Communicators. With less than 25 ABCs in the city of Chicago, Queta is the first Latina to receive such honor.
Queta has an active volunteer life and currently serves on the boards of Sones de Mexico—a musical arts organization; the Community Media Workshop; the Alliance of Latinos and Jews; the Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force, and the Chicago Foundation for Women.
Having lived in Mexico City, New York and Paris, Queta has settled in Chicago with her multicultural family.
